Australian Airline Carry-On Guidance

Many customers ask whether this bag fits as a carry-on or personal item on Australian flights. Here is what we can tell you: We personally use for our family , one Xplore backpack and one Equinox backpack as our carry on , on International and Domestic flights. That way we have one for our surf days and one for our travel & fragile items.

• Fully packed (68 × 44 × 17 cm): This exceeds the carry-on allowance of most Australian carriers and would typically need to be checked in when packed to capacity.
• Compressed / lightly packed: When rolled down to around 52–55 cm in height with a lighter load, the bag may fall within some airlines' personal-item or carry-on limits — but this is not guaranteed.
• Limits vary by carrier and aircraft type. Always check the baggage page for your specific airline before travel:
  • Qantas carry-on baggage
  • Virgin Australia carry-on baggage
  • Jetstar cabin baggage
  • Rex Airlines baggage allowance
• Rules can also differ on regional turboprop aircraft vs. mainline jets. If in doubt, contact your airline directly.
